Organic Ginkgo biloba Leaf Powder should be prepared exclusively from dried leaves of Ginkgo biloba L., sourced from organically cultivated plants and free from stems, seeds, or foreign matter. The powder should be fine, greenish-brown in color, with characteristic odor and taste. It must comply with organic standards (such as NPOP/USDA/EU Organic) and meet general quality requirements including controlled moisture (normally not more than about 8%), defined particle size, and absence of adulterants.
The material should naturally contain key phytoconstituents such as flavonoid glycosides and terpene lactones, which are responsible for its antioxidant and cognitive-support properties. Levels of undesirable compounds, particularly ginkgolic acids, should be kept to very low and safe limits. The powder must also conform to applicable limits for heavy metals, pesticide residues, and microbial load, and be supported by appropriate analytical testing (such as HPLC for active markers) to ensure safety, purity, and consistent quality for nutraceutical or food-supplement use.
